Emily Irene VanCamp, who initially wanted to become a professional dancer, became attracted to acting after she visited her sister Katie on the Ladies Room set. While taking classes in acting and directing, she was also offered guest roles on Canadian TV shows. A few of the series she had starred in among other shows included Are You Afraid of the Dark? Radio Active, Dice. VanCamp made a breakthrough in his career following his appearance as an actor in the role of Sam Dolan on the WB horror mystery show Glory Days. The show was cancelled after 9 episodes and despite receiving favorable review from the public. The May 12th, 1986 actress quickly secured another part in Everwood. The character she plays Amy Abbott is one of the principal characters. The actress was nominated in four Teen Choice Awards and a Young Artist Award.
